Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments on a metered pay-as-you-go basis. These cloud computing web services are offered from data centers around the world and include compute power, database storage, content delivery, and other functionalities that enable businesses to increase efficiency, cut costs, and improve scalability.
AWS publishes its hiring process on its own careers site. It describes four steps:
Online application – Search the AWS careers page by location, job category or keyword and apply to the role you want.
Assessments – Role-related online assessments.
Phone interview – A screening conversation before the interview loop.
In-person interviews – AWS calls these “interview loops”: a series of conversations with topic experts, future colleagues, and a neutral participant called a bar raiser. The bar raiser focuses on long-term potential rather than the immediate opening and acts as an objective third party so that each candidate’s experience is consistent and fair.
AWS advises candidates to prepare examples against its Leadership Principles and to structure answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
