Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It traces its origins to Hindustan Aircraft Limited, established in Bangalore on 23 December 1940, and took its present form in 1964 through the merger of Hindustan Aircraft Limited and Aeronautics India Limited.

HAL designs, develops, manufactures and overhauls aircraft, helicopters, aero-engines, avionics and communications equipment for military and civil customers. The company operates 20 production units and 11 research and design centres across eight locations in India.
