Freshworks

Freshworks runs a mostly virtual process that takes two to four weeks from application to offer. The stages below describe the engineering track; sales, support and product roles replace the coding rounds with case or role-play discussions.

1. Application and resume screen

Apply on the Freshworks careers site, through a campus placement cell or via a portal such as Jobaaj. Recruiters shortlist on relevant skills, projects and, for freshers, coding profiles and internships. A referral from a current employee helps your profile get looked at faster.

2. Online coding assessment

Shortlisted engineering candidates receive a timed online test with two or three programming problems and a few multiple-choice questions on data structures, databases and web fundamentals. It is usually proctored and runs for 60 to 90 minutes.

3. Technical interviews

Two rounds with engineers, held on video. The first is problem-solving and coding in a shared editor; the second goes deeper into your projects, system design basics, APIs and debugging. Experienced candidates get a dedicated design round.

4. Hiring manager round

A conversation with the manager of the team you would join, covering how you work, how you handle ambiguity and whether your interests match the product area.

5. HR discussion and offer

HR discusses compensation, notice period, location and joining date, then releases the offer letter. Background verification follows acceptance.

Expect three to four evaluated rounds after the online test. Each interview is about 45 to 60 minutes.

Round 1: Online coding assessment

A proctored test on a coding platform. Problems are of easy to medium difficulty and reward clean, efficient solutions with correct handling of edge cases.

• Sorting, searching and simple recursion
• Basic SQL and time-complexity questions

Round 2: Data structures and problem solving

A live coding interview with a senior engineer. You will write code in a shared editor and talk through your approach, then optimise it.

• Linked lists, stacks, queues and trees
• Two-pointer and sliding-window problems
• Explaining space and time trade-offs

Round 3: Projects, design and fundamentals

A discussion of your resume projects, followed by design questions scaled to your experience. Freshers are asked about how they built something end to end; experienced candidates design a service with APIs, storage and scaling considerations.

• Designing a ticketing or notification system
• REST API design, caching and database indexing
• Debugging a slow endpoint or a memory leak

Round 4: Hiring manager and culture

A behavioural conversation with the hiring manager and sometimes a peer. The focus is ownership, collaboration and customer thinking rather than trick questions.

Round 5: HR round

A short call on expectations, compensation structure, work location and notice period. Offers usually follow within a week.
