The process varies by format and level, but most roles follow the steps below and complete within two to four weeks. Store-level hiring is often a walk-in or same-day process.
1. Application and screening
Apply on the Reliance careers site, through campus placements, walk-in drives at stores or job portals such as Jobaaj. Recruiters screen for relevant retail, sales or supply chain experience and, for corporate roles, academic background and functional depth.
2. Online assessment
Management trainee and some corporate candidates take an online aptitude and psychometric test. Store roles may include a short retail-scenario or numerical test conducted at the venue.
3. Functional or store manager interview
A 30 to 45 minute interview with the hiring manager: a store or cluster manager for store roles, a category head for buying and merchandising, or a function head for supply chain, finance and technology. Questions cover retail metrics, scenarios and past achievements.
4. Group discussion or case (campus and MT routes)
Business school candidates go through a group discussion or a retail case, for example improving footfall or margins at a store, followed by a presentation to assessors.
5. Senior leadership interview
A format head or regional business head assesses ambition, mobility and fit with a high-growth, execution-heavy culture.
6. HR discussion and offer
Compensation, posting, shift expectations and joining formalities. Store staff usually join within days; corporate hires after background verification.
