Kotak Mahindra Bank's hiring runs in four to six stages depending on the role. Fresher and campus hiring is more structured; lateral hiring is usually shorter with interviews stacked closer together.
1. Application and resume screening
Apply through the Kotak careers site, your campus placement cell, a referral or a portal such as Jobaaj. The HR team screens for qualification, percentage, location preference and relevant experience. For management trainee and Young Managers hiring, the screen is limited to shortlisted institutes.
2. Online assessment
A timed test of roughly 30 to 60 questions covering quantitative ability, logical reasoning, English and, for some roles, a situational judgement section. Technology roles get coding and SQL questions instead. The test is taken online and is usually proctored.
3. Group discussion
Used mainly for sales, branch and management trainee hiring. Groups of eight to twelve discuss a banking, economy or general topic for 15 to 20 minutes while a panel observes communication, reasoning and team behaviour.
4. Functional or technical interview
A 30 to 45 minute interview with a team lead or business manager. Banking roles are tested on product knowledge, credit basics and customer scenarios; technology roles on data structures, databases and system design; analytics roles on statistics and case questions.
5. Senior management interview
For management trainee, product and mid-level roles there is a second interview with a business head or country head. It is more about judgement, ambition and fit: why banking, why Kotak, how you would handle a conflict between targets and compliance.
6. HR discussion and offer
HR discusses compensation, location, notice period and joining date, then issues the offer after document and background verification. Onboarding includes mandatory compliance training before you are given customer access.
